Self Esteem, whose real name is Rebecca Taylor, started her career as one half of indie band Slow Club before quitting in 2017 to focus on her experimental pop project.
Her debut album, Compliments Please, was released earlier this year to critical acclaim, followed by a performance on Glastonbury’s BBC Music Introducing stage. Described as ‘smart’ and ‘sassy’ by DIY Magazine, Taylor says departing from an established indie group to pursue her new pop sound gave her the confidence to produce the music she’d always wanted to. Following her Glastonbury debut, and performances at All Points East, Latitude and British Summer Time, the multi-instrumentalist and singer is preparing to take her new project around the UK with her first solo tour this autumn.
